Depression is thought to be caused by examining all relevant biological, psychological, and social factors that might be contributing to the development or maintenance of the disorder.
Biological factors influence depression as chemical imbalance in the brain that significantly disturbed with regard to endocrine (hormone), immune, and neurotransmitter system functioning. A person who has a physical disorder is developing depression. As a contra, Physical disorder may enhance the depression. In addition, genes can influence transmission of depression from generation to generation.
Psychological factors influencing depression as negative of thinking, emotional problems, deficits in coping skills, problem-solving abilities. In some situation, these psychological factors can be influenced by biology .And some social situation, social factors can be influenced by psychology. For example; coping behaviours from modelled people (e.g., by their parents and teachers).
People can also become depressed as a result of social factors such as: family break-up, abuse, ongoing bullying at school, rape, a death, a relationship break up, family conflict. (W*4)
